Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Electrical/Computer Engineer.

Responsibilities
Work with small teams of researchers and developers to develop novel software applications compatible with a variety of mobile communication devices in support of various Government sponsors. Analyze embedded platform firmware and operating systems to understand possible attack vectors through various platform communication links. Using knowledge gained through the application of reverse-engineering and other research techniques, design and develop low-level C and assembly applications for embedded ARM platforms that interface directly with platform hardware. Develop and execute test plans to ensure all requirements of developed capabilities are fully satisfied. Prepare technical reports, present results, and demonstrate system capabilities to peer review groups, managers, and sponsors.

Qualifications

Required: BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years related experience with strong C/C++ development skills and a fundamental understanding of mobile device platform hardware and software architectures. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and on a team, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and good organizational skills.

Desired: MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 8 years related experience. Five years or more experience in mobile phone hardware design or operating system development highly desired. Knowledge of implementations of contemporary commercial wireless devices. Prior experience working with DoD and IC commnunities.

Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
