Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Computer Scientist/Driver and Firmware Programmer.
Responsibilities
Work in high paced team environment to research and develop novel software solutions for various Government sponsors; primarily focused on driver development and reverse engineering. Analyze interactions between software (both driver and firmware) and hardware peripherals to study the low-level attack surface of various popular operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 2008, etc. Employ knowledge gained through research and reverse engineering techniques to design and develop low-level C and assembly applications for various operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 2008, etc. Develop and execute test plan to ensure all requirements of developed capabilities are fully satisfied. Prepare technical reports, present results, and demonstrate system capabilities to peer review groups, managers and sponsors.
Qualifications
Required:
BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of related experience with strong C, x86 assembly development skills, and a solid understanding of x86 computer architecture. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently as well as within a team, and good communication and organization skills.
Desired:
MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields with 8 years related experience. 5 or more years experience in Windows driver development. 3 or more years experience in reverse engineering binary code with a solid understanding of WinDbg and IDA Pro; experience with hardware ICE (i.e. American Arium) a plus. 3 or more years experience in vulnerability/exploit analysis a plus. Prior experience working with DoD and IC communities with an active clearance.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
