Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Electrical/Computer Engineer.
Responsibilities
Develop SIGINT analysis and production tools for intelligence community and DoD sponsors. Design, develop, maintain and test RF communications and radar signal data conditioning software using C++, Java and Matlab. Work closely with software development team to develop and maintain signal analysis systems on UNIX and PC based platforms. Participate in laboratory and field evaluations of developed software. Assist with all levels of system and component testing. Rapidly modify/update software according to test results and in response to emergent technical and operational requirements. Work with site personnel to install new upgrades to the software baseline. Keep all required security records updated as changes are made. Document and present work to sponsors and the technical community.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, math, computer engineering, or equivalent with 3-5 years experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Good organizational skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. U.S. Citizenship required.
Desired: Familiarity with basic RF communications and radar signal concepts, software testing, and digital signal processing concepts. Co-op work experience with SIGINT processing, familiarity with MATLAB, C/C++. Willingness to work on quick-reaction projects in support of the sponsor's operational requirements.
Special Work Conditions
Limited travel required. Must be willing to relocate to Colorado after training period at APL.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
