Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Test and Evaluation Data Engineer

Responsibilities
Job Description -
Perform technical management and administration of DNDO test data to support incoming and outgoing data requests and release of data to user community.

Duties - Define requirements, establish process, and develop tools to efficiently ingest incoming data, track and manage existing government test and evaluation data collection, and deliver test data to the user community.

Handle, manage, maintain, and protect incoming and outgoing data from various test events. Locate and retrieve data sets from data repository. Perform final technical data quality review of all data sets for delivery outside of APL.

Obtain government approval and coordinate with data requester to conform to data release process. Prepare formal documentation and data products to support incoming requests.
Document policies and procedures for the data requests and release process.

Qualifications
Required -
B.S. in Information Science, Engineering or equivalent. Experience with using relational database or related information management systems. Must have good working knowledge of test data file formats (ICD1, ICD2, N42, spe, xsd, gz, mdb, msg, jpg, txt, VMXF, VMDK) and the types of data each represents (e.g. XML, picture, text, database, email). Must be able to work independently and possess problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with excellent initiative and attention to detail. Must be proficient in Windows OS, Windows Network File System, MS SharePoint, MS Office Tools (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project), MS Access and knowledgeable with other tools such as Adobe Acrobat professional, Winzip, Filezilla secure FTP, Entrust data encryption, and XML schema for data validation.

Desired - Bachelor's degree in nuclear physics or equivalent. Experience with database management systems, analysis and development tools (Matlab) and data delivery process. Familiarity with SQL query construction and agile process (e.g. SCRUM) is a plus. Develop short programs or script writing to aid in file handling.

Special Work Conditions
Occasional local travel to sponsor and customer sites within the Washington DC area.

Security
