Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer.

Responsibilities
Predict and model the aerodynamic characteristics of missiles and other flight vehicles. Use both aerodynamic engineering codes and computational fluid dynamics to compute airframe performance. Participate in wind-tunnel tests to capture critical aerodynamic characteristics and render data into high-fidelity aerodynamic models.

Duties:
Compute missile airframe aerodynamic characteristics using a variety of in-house and commercial tools. Develop aeromodels for various missile and flight vehicles using APL's aerodynamic modeling architecture. Support wind-tunnel testing by providing pretest predictions, technical oversight and post test data analysis. Develop and/or support appropriate 3DoF and 6DoF flight simulation models. Participate in new business development and independent research & development initiatives. Interact with potential and current sponsors; prepare white papers and proposals for business development. Document and publish results; attend symposium and conferences to enhance the Laboratory's aerodynamic reputation and learn about new opportunities.

Qualifications
Required:
MS in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering with training in aerodynamics, vehicle control and dynamics, incompressible/compressible flow and computational fluid dynamics.

Desired: Same as above with 3 to 5 years experience in airframe aerodynamics analysis, wind-tunnel testing and aerodynamic model development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and new business development capabilities.

Special Work Conditions
Occasional need to support wind-tunnel testing at off-site test facilities.

Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
