Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a CBRNE Test Data Analyst.
Responsibilities
Job Description - Work in a team with analysts, subject matter experts, and engineers to develop methods and techniques for evaluating CBRNE systems. Perform analysis, simulation, and modeling to support the evaluation of vendor-developed algorithms, previous technical studies, and develop alternative solutions.
Duties - Conduct and analyze test and evaluation activities, perform technical studies, and develop analyses to assess the performance of DNDO-sponsored radionuclide and nuclear materials detection systems and algorithms to meet sponsor needs. Document and present study results.
Develop software tools, statistical analysis techniques, and modeling and simulation approaches to assess systems performance trade-offs.
Design experiments and prototype algorithms to support specific analysis objectives.
Support data requests, data management, and data validation activities.
Qualifications
Required - BS in physical science, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of Radionuclide/Nuclear detection- related technical studies and analyses. Must be able to work independently and possess good problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with excellent initiative and attention to detail. Experience in Excel, MATLAB, multi-variate analysis, VB, VC++, C#, or shell scripting to perform exploratory studies. Experience performing experiments and reporting results.
Desired - MS in physical science, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to provide subject matter expertise and science and technical advice to sponsor on Radiological/Nuclear detection issues. Experience designing and leading experiments. Experience in Agile software development and database development/querying is a plus.
Special Work Conditions
Occasional local travel to sponsor in the Washington DC area as well as some field test travel.
Security
