Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an AISD Information Technology Services Lead.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective strategies to identify and satisfy current and future computing needs for AISD projects and AISD staff. Work with line managers, program and program area mangers, technical leads, and facility administrators to develop and implement effective strategies to identify and satisfy current and future computing needs for AISD projects and staff, while maneuvering cost, space, and infrastructure constraints. Includes establishment and leading AISD facilities working groups to coordinate facilities operations and significantly improve facility development and administration and leading design and establishment of new or renovated computing facilities. Spearhead development of efficient and forward-looking approaches to computing equipment selection, software selections, and licensed software management. Develop and implement an AISD unclassified desktop life-cycle rotation program. Develop a consistent approach to collecting, maintaining, analyzing and reporting information on AISD computing resources. Team with and provide technical advice and leadership to the AISD security coordinator to ensure that facility IT security requirements are defined and communicated in a clear, cogent manner and that facilities IT security administration is timely, uniform, effective and efficient across the department. Lead the AISD response to computer security spills and develop approaches for preventing/mitigating such events. Act as primary AISD liaison with ITSD for lab-wide Information Technology services and directives. Define requirements, develop plans, and implement an AISD program to provide classified and unclassified laptops or other computing resources in support of temporary assignments or projects.
Qualifications
Required:
BS in EE, CS or other IT-related field or five years relevant experience. PC and Linux/Unix system administration and network experience. Excellent leadership and negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills at all levels. Working knowledge of APL/NISPOM automated Information System security requirements. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
Desired:
MS in EE, CS, or other IT-related field. Experience designing and maintaining advanced computing facilities. Broad understanding of the nature of sponsored work in AISD. Strong working knowledge of modern computing and networking approaches.
