Project Engineer
Job Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Travel Involved: 20% to 30%
Koch Pipeline Company, L.P., as an owner, operator and investor, plays a key role in the American pipeline system that delivers energy that fuels society. Position Summary:
A successful candidate for this role will be responsible for engineering and managing pipeline, station, terminal and tank projects, completing them safely, within budget and on schedule.
Candidate's responsibilities will also include:
1) Compliance - ensuring projects are executed in a legal, safe, and environmentally-responsible manne.
2) Project Management - focusing on projects related to design, construction, maintenance, reconditioning, and expansion of pipelines and pipeline facilities; ensuring projects are well-defined and appropriately managed to achieve business value; and coordinating all facets of projects from inception to completion, including definition, options analysis, detailed design, economics, scheduling, communications, procurement, contracting, permitting, execution, status reporting, and construction file management.
3) Engineering Support - providing cost estimates, conducting pipeline hydraulic studies utilizing computer models, etc.
4) Customer Satisfaction - Possess an entrepreneurial spirit that fosters creative and innovative thinking that leads to customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
* 1 + years prior working experience with Cost Estimating and Cost Control; able to develop, compile and analyze data, managing budgets and cost.
* 1+ years experience in engineering project management role(s); including developing a project plan, defining project goals and objectives, determine resources, budgets, and timelines for completion; and implementing the project plan.
* High customer relations skills
* Strong written and verbal communications skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
* Computer skills, specifically the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, and the ability to learn to use proprietary databases
* Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, well-organized, self-motivated.
* Valid driver's license required.
* BS in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Chemical or Mechanical)
Preferred:
* 3+ years Pipeline Engineering and Design experience
* Specific project management experience with pipelines, tanks, storage terminals, booster stations, and/or truck loading or unloading facilities
* Experience with liquid pipeline and pump station integrity, design, construction, maintenance and repair
* Proficient in DOT 195 regulations; knowledgeable and able to follow regulations accordingly.
* Pump Design, Hydraulic modeling and Pipeline hydrotesting experience.
Physical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions:
* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a frequent basis
* Role requires individual to climb in and out of bell holes, enter manways, climb storage tanks greater than 40' in height, walk in rough terrain and work in hot and abnormal conditions.
* Ability to wear flame retardant clothing (i.e. Nomex) when required
* Ability to wear required PPE while working, including at minimum a hard hat, safety glasses and heeled, safety toed work boots
* Must be able to work in hot, cold or inclement climate conditions (outdoor conditions) approximately 30% of the time.
* Up to 50% travel required to project locations to provide project support and oversight, including local travel and overnight travel in the Central US
* Position requires the ability to wear respirator and to pass a respirator fit test
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT drug screen, and pre-hire HAZWOPER physical.
* Must be able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response
* This position requires access to a facility subject to Department of Homeland Security / TSA credentialing program.
