Safety Manager
Job Location: Port Arthur, TX
Koch Pipeline Company, L.P., as an owner, operator and
investor, plays a key role in the American pipeline
system that delivers energy that fuels society. Koch
Pipeline owns or operates about 4,000 miles of pipeline
that transport crude oil, natural gas liquids, and
refined products. Koch Pipeline entities also operate
storage and distribution terminals in North America, and
have an investment in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System.
Koch Pipeline Company employees are focused on becoming
the operator of choice in the communities in which they
operate.
* Work closely with operations to identify risks and
develop / implement a control methodology for these
risks.
* Provide expertise and leadership in the
anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of
safety and health risks.
* Ensure compliance with OSHA's 29CFR 1910 regulations
as well as local and state regulatory compliance,
and will provide interpretation and guidance of
these regulations.
* Monitor and audit field related activities to ensure
compliance and address safety compliance /
operational issues.
* Provide Safety Training, including Safe Work Permit,
Excavation, Contractor, Defensive Driving, Safety
Culture, etc.
* Ensure regulatory reports are completed accurately,
and reviewed thoroughly and submitted on time for
the East Texas Chemicals Group sites.
* Utilize work management computer systems (Lynx and
MAXIMO) to ensure safety items/issues are
identified, tracked and closed.
* Increase personnel safety knowledge and provide
consistent communication of expectations and improve
safety compliance.
* Lead the East Texas Chemicals Group's Local Safety
Coordinator Team and be a member of the emergency
response team.
* Perform periodic self assessment audits to verify
compliance and system effectiveness.
* Work closely with Northern/Southern Operating Groups
to ensure company safety program wide consistency.
* Manage the industrial hygiene program and
improvement initiatives.
* Lead incident investigations and conduct Tap Root
Analysis on safety incidents.
* 5-7 years of leading a safety program in the
pipeline, industrial, construction, chemical or
manufacturing industries.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills,
leadership, problem solving, conflict management and
teamwork.
* Demonstrated ability to influence by example and the
ability to lead and work with all levels of
employees.
* Strong leadership and organizational skills with
strong attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
* Excellent computer skills (MS Office applications).
* Solid knowledge regarding safety laws and
regulations.
* Knowledge and experience developing and implementing
safety management systems.
* Substantial experience setting safety goals and
measuring progress against those goals.
* Experience in conducting safety compliance and
management systems audits.
* Strong training skills.
* Experience with adult learning methodologies to
ensure transfer of knowledge.
* Strong Industrial Hygiene experience.
* BS Degree in Safety Management, Engineering or
equivalent. In lieu of a degree, 7+ years experience
leading a safety program
Preferred:
* PSM experience preferred.
* CIH, preferred.
* Experience in a pipeline industry, preferred.
Other Considerations:
* Ability to work outside in hot or cold climate
conditions
* Ability to climb steps, ladders, or tanks
* Ability to wear flame retardant clothing (i.e.
Nomex) when required
* Ability to wear required PPE while working,
including at minimum. a hard hat, safety glasses and
heeled work boots
* Position requires the ability to wear respirator and
to pass a respirator fit test
* Position requires a valid driver's license
* Must be able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency
response
