Position Summary
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
Flint Hills Resources is actively seeking entrepreneurial, action oriented employees to work in our Port Arthur chemical plant, where we produce cyclohexane, ethylene and propylene, which are sold on the merchant market. ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS:
1. Continuously improve EH&S performance of the unit
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements as trained.
- Ensure personal Emergency Response preparation and provide timely response when required (know your role, how and when to report emergencies, location of emergency equipment, evacuation areas. • • • • General understanding of Incident Command systems, etc.)
- Understand incident investigation methodology and actively participate in Incident investigations when required
- Exhibit quality participation in the Proactive HSE Program (What-if's, Near Miss Investigations, Audits, Safety Meetings, completed action items, etc.)
- Address assigned HSE action items in a timely manner.
- Complete regulatory training requirements (E.G., CBTs) by established deadlines.
- Participate in addressing HRT audit action items in coverage area.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in area of coverage.
- Insure compliance with regulatory requirements (E.G., execution of unit rounds, logs, and calendars).
2. Support the production team by flawlessly performing outside operational duties.
- Perform duties as described per the standardized round sheet and routine duties as defined in Unit Training Guides. Unit Training Guides are the tools used to step through qualification on Unit Operating Procedures manuals.
- Perform operational duties as required to optimize unit performance including timely process adjustments, sampling, process monitoring, etc as needed by the Team Leader.
- Understand and execute the Maintenance Workflow Process including work request entry and risk ranking, and assisting the Production team in the development of the Unit Work Schedule.
- Perform PM monitoring and incidental maintenance activities as required ( as dictated by log sheet and round sheet tools and routine duties calendars).
- Review, improve, and develop procedures (Start-up, Shut-down, Maintenance, Operating, etc.) as required to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Appropriately respond to call-outs.
- Ensure equipment repair preparation and post-work commissioning is performed following current policies and procedures.
- Identify, address, and capture opportunities for reliability improvement, cost and waste reduction as per appropriate business processes.
- Understand critical equipment and economics of area to improve decision-making.
- Accountable for decisions made pertaining to outside operations.
- Assist in development of plans for turnarounds, shut-downs, and special events.
- Continually improve knowledge of area and equipment, and make continued progress towards fully rotational status in assigned area. Maintain earned certifications by up-to- date on MOC training.
- Perform Safe Work Permit process with excellence.
- Perform continuous surveillance and condition monitoring of equipment in assigned area (S) (E.G. audio/visual monitoring for fugitive emissions/ LDAR)
Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Previous petrochemical or refinery operations experience
- Must demonstrate basic communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must demonstrate basic math skills (including the use of equations)
- Must demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
HS Diploma or equivalent.
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
Process Technology Associate's degree
