Business System Analyst (BSA) (aka, applications support analyst, business analyst) As part of a growing organization you will become part of a team, setting a vision for the software applications that support the business processes across our operations. You will work on teams that are business customer focused to understand and translate high-level business requirements and detailed specifications into solid technical solutions. Some travel to the various plants will be required to build quality working relationships with your internal customers and furthering your business understanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with the customers in the areas they support. Through these relationships the candidate will understand the applications supporting the business functional areas and help determine where further use of technology can bring additional business value.

Responsibilities include:
• Own and manage the applications and their life cycle in the supported business areas. Items include management of the reliability/viability of the application through enhancement releases and small projects while managing end user expectations.
• Investigate requirements, model processes and data, analyze business problems or processes, and determine how the application of technology might create business system improvement (with some supervision, either individually or as part of a team).
• Project manage IT initiatives with responsibilities for tracking schedule, cost, and quality for all or some phases of small to mid-size system releases and/or projects.
• Effectively apply standards, methods, and processes to produce quality documentation of both a technical and descriptive nature as required by the Project Framework.

Requirements:

Work Experience/Skills Required: 
• Strong work ethic required as well as the ability to work independently with limited supervision. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are mandatory as this position will work with all levels of end users. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. 
• Understanding and practical experience of systems development lifecycle planning: project origination and economics, requirements gathering, conceptual design, functional design, construction/unit testing, integration and system testing and implementation. 

Work Experience/Skills Preferred: 
• Knowledge of refining or other aspects of the petroleum business a strong plus. 
• Prior software design and development experience is strongly desired. 

Education Required:
• Bachelor degree from an accredited school is required

Education Preferred: 
• Bachelor degree in MIS/CIS

Other Considerations:
This position will require business travel up to 20% of the time
