This position within the Flint Hills Resources Income Tax Accounting Group would not only be a great opportunity for someone with previous tax accounting experience, but also for an experienced accountant who is ready to gain tax experience to broaden his/her accounting skills.
Position Summary:
Responsibilities of this position include:
• Monthly U.S. Federal and State income tax provisions for the domestic legal entities, including recording tax accrual entries and reviewing/analyzing effective tax rates.
• Balance sheet account reconciliations for the domestic current and deferred income tax balances, including roll-forward analysis and required balance analysis.
• Quarterly taxable income projections for the domestic legal entities.
• Annual reconciliation of income tax provisions to tax returns, including recording tax true-up entries.
• Interaction with the Corporate Tax Department, including quarterly income tax reporting and explanation of material items impacting FHR’s tax provisions.
• Interaction with the FHR tax compliance group to facilitate tax return preparation.
• Interaction with the FHR financial reporting group to maintain a tax-sensitized trial balance and ensure compliance with FAS109 - Accounting for Income Taxes.
• Process improvement to ensure compliance with tax law changes, gain efficiencies, and improve internal controls.
Requirements:
Work Experience/Skills Required:
• 2 + years of accounting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to grasp complex issues.
• Attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
Work Experience/Skills Preferred:
• Previous major CPA firm or large multi-national corporation experience.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency in spreadsheets and databases (Excel, Access) and accounting systems (Oracle, Hyperion)
• Knowledge of FASB Statement No. 109, Accounting for Income
Taxes Education Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from an accredited school
Education Preferred:
• CPA Certification
• Master's degree in Taxation
