Position Summary
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
Flint Hills Resources is actively seeking entrepreneurial, action oriented employees to work in our Longview chemical plant, where we produce polymers used in a variety of consumer products. Flint Hills Resources’ Longview employees are charged with supporting the polymers production plant located within the Eastman Chemical facility. In addition to operations management, the plant includes a technical services and development capability, as well as warehousing and rail unloading. Safety is first priority at our Longview site, which has earned Voluntary Protection Programs Star Status from the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS:
  • Understand and follow all EH&S Policies and Procedures
  • Work on process improvement projects as assigned by Production Manager
  • Work on capital projects as assigned by Production Manager
  • Provide technical support to operations on a day-to day basis in order to meet production goals
  • Responsible for key process parameters identification and targets
  • Provide support in the development of standard operating procedures
  • Involved in operators training
  • Responsible for identifying improvements and developing conceptual scope in facility to support businesss strategy
  • Involved in production quality process
  • Provides technical support to EH&S
  • Act as a project team member as required
  • Accountable for personal work practices that impact Safety and Environmental performance
  • Accountable for complying with all EH&S regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Responsible for participating in Safety & Environmental meetings and/or other programs within their organizations as directed by Management
Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • 3+ years experience in either Polypropylene or Polyethylene facility
  • Process control experience
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Individual must be proficient at analyzing data and possess strong trouble-shooting skills regarding process units
  • Must have safe work habits and be environmentally principled
  • Should have fundamental economic skills and an attitude that drives decision making from an economic point of view
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering

PHYSICAL DEMANDS or UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Able to work on feet up to 4 hours at a time, Carry up to 50 pounds for short periods of time, Work in all weather conditions, Bend, Stoop, and Crawl, typical plant working environment
