Position Summary:
A key member of the Rehab Services professional staff responsible for providing clinically competent evaluations and/or treatment programs for all assigned patients and for documenting care according to departmental standards. Represents Via Christi within the community.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Demonstrates knowledge of injury illness or disability of patient population served.
- Demonstrates clinical competency and performance in the following:
o evaluations assessment tools and intervention programs;
o equipment/modalities used in treatment;
o documentation and charging according to departmental standards;
o meets productivity standards as set per clinical area.
- Provides professional education to students staff and the public.
Education and/or Experience
- Doctorate degree from a university in an accredited Physical Therapy program is required.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- State and/or national license, registration, or certification appropriate to professional credentials, AND a current CPR certification are required.

- The employee must constantly lift and/or move up to 10-20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds, and occasionaloly lift and or/move more than 50 pounds and up to100 pounds.
- Occasionally reuiqred to sit in a stationary positon.
- Requires frequent movement throughout the day and occasional movement from one location to another throughout and across Via Christi campuses.
- Able to tolerate frequent standing on hard and soft surfaces throughout the day.
- Frequently performs activities that require climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching with hands and arms throughout the day.
- Frequently uses hands and fingers to complete tasks such as documenting information in patient charts and handling medical equipment.
- Constantly able to communicate verbally and in written form.
- Frequently able to detect and discern both loud and soft sounds such as patient voices and phone calls/paging.
- Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.
- Occasionally required to detect unusual odors that could indicate patient concerns or environmental issues.
- Therapists with ASTM certification may be required to handle and grip tools more frequently during the work day.
