Shift: 8 Hour Day Shift / Hours: 40 FTE: 1

POSITION OVERVIEW: Twenty-four hour responsibility for the patient care services provided within their areas of responsibility. The Director is responsible for development implementation and evaluation of Patient Care programs at Mt. Carmel Medical Regional Center and service area. The Director coordinates with all other departments of the hospital to provide their services. This position represents the interests of the hospital with third parties associations regulatory and accrediting bodies which interact with or influence operation of the department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES JOB DUTIES AND PROJECTS:

1. Communicate mission vision and plans for improvement and growth to all employees. (Service)

2. Coordinates and integrates services within their departments and with other departments in accordance with the hospital's primary functions. (Service)

3. Participates in patient care as needed. Role model teamwork. (Service)

4. Ensures that department patient safety program is implemented and integrated with hospital safety program (Quality)

5. In collaboration with associated departments develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care treatment and services. (Quality)

6. Continuously assesses and improves departments performance in conjunction with the hospital's process improvement patient safety and patient satisfaction programs (Quality)

7. Plans for and supports the provision and coordination of patient education. (Quality)

8. Develops and implements plans to identify and mitigate impediments to efficient patient glow throughout the hospital. (Emergency preparedness) (Quality)

9. Defines the required qualification competence and numbers of staff who provide care treatment and services (People)

10. Recommends and continuously assess the performance of qualified and competent persons to provide care to a population of patients. (People)

11. In conjunction with hospital administration develops annual operating and capital budget including a strategy to monitor budget implementation. (Finance)

12. Recommends adequate space equipment and other resources. (Finance)

13. Designs new or modified services or processes well. (Growth)

14. Participates in both short-term and long-term planning. (Growth)

15. Enforces hospital and departmental policies procedures rules and regulations.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a school providing credentials in at least one of the clinical areas supervised (i.e. RN PT OT RT). Masters in appropriate clinical area or business preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Four years clinical experience. Leadership experience preferred. Must maintain clinical competence in at least one area supervised.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/ REGISTRATION: Licensed by the State of Kansas in one of the disciplines supervised.
