Position Overview: Collects specimens and independently performs waived moderately complex and highly complex laboratory testing; maintains laboratory equipment; performs clerical duties. Rotate weekend on-call.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Independently performs waived moderate and high complexity testing (as defined by CLIA '88).
*Collects or assists in the collection of all types of specimens (blood urine sputum etc.) and process them.
* Assists with diagnosis and billing coding (as defined by Medicare Compliance '98)
* Performs quality control testing within designated area at appropriate scheduled intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
* Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting at appropriate intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
* Provides in-service training or orientation to other lab personnel or students under direction of Lab Manager or Senior Medical Technologist.
* Rotate weekend on-call with other lab personnel.
* Promotes and supports all Wamego City Hospital standards of quality customer service.
* Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance. Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health and Education (CAHEA) accredited Medical Technology program or equivalent training education and experience. ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification or categorical certification.
