JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Collects specimens and independently performs waived, moderately complex, and highly complex laboratory testing under supervision; cleans laboratory equipment; performs clerical and computer duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing (as defined by CLIA ’88) under direct supervision.
· Performs quality control testing within designated area at appropriate scheduled intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
· Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting at appropriate intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
· Provides in-service training or orientation to other lab personnel or students under direction of section supervisor.
· Promotes and supports all Team Mercy standards of quality customer service.
· Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health and Education: Minimum of Associates or Degree in a related science field. Registry of certificate from a National Agency such as ASCP, or equivalent. Education and registry copy required when hired.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
None required, previous generalist experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Good Communication skills Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to follow guidelines set forth in Medicare Compliance “98 Demonstrates good phlebotomy skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing/walking, manual dexterity and mobility, frequent reaching, stooping and bending. Good visual acuity.
