JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Position provides spiritual and pastoral counsel, comfort and support to patients and their families during times of illness and loss. Incumbents work in cooperation with other staff to provide high quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Offers pastoral/spiritual care to patients and families.
· Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication.
· Provides timely support to patients, families and staff.
· Upholds the values of Mercy Regional Health Center within the community.
· Promotes and supports all Team Mercy standards of quality customer service. Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Theology with some basic CPE. Must be in good standing with denomination of affiliation. Certification as a chaplain with either NACC or APC recommended.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
At least one-year experience as a chaplain in a hospital or health related setting.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to articulate own faith and be sensitive to the differences of other religious practices. Must have good communication skills (listening, written, verbal). Able to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light physical effort to lift and/or carry up to ten pounds. Periodic standing, walking, reaching, stooping bending, kneeling and crouching.
