Job Skills/Requirements
The J.M. Stuart Station Engineering Department is seeking experienced engineering candidates for positions in our Performance and Project Engineering Group.
Duties of this engineering group include: Evaluating plant equipment for optimum performance Making recommendations to improve performance, alerting plant personnel to equipment problems, and tracking of plant performance Performing studies on plant equipment, making recommendations on maintenance practices, new technologies to predict equipment failures, or new technologies to enhance equipment reliability and performance. Providing engineering evaluations, designs and recommendations for a wide range of power plant equipment and systems. Recommendations are based on analyses, calculations, and investigations into plant problems, opportunities for improving performance, or to meet new requirements. Developing system designs, specifications and drawings to define the scope of projects. Preparing budget estimates, performing financial comparisons of alternatives, and presenting budgets for approval. Manages projects, construction, and start up and testing of systems for approved projects. Frequently works with outside consulting firms and construction management personnel in executing major station projects. Assisting the maintenance staff in repair evaluations, material selection, and use of new technologies to improve performance and reliability.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering Five years of experience in a directly related position Thorough understanding of thermodynamic and heat transfer principles Field experience and background with related power equipment, systems, and plant performance is preferred Good oral and written communication skills Strong problem solving and organizational skills Able to stay detail-oriented in a fast-paced setting Able to accept and adapt to changing priorities Willingness to work off-hours as business needs dictate Ability to handle multiple tasks Ability to wear a respirator and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE) Preferred: Licenses Professional Engineer
