This client in ALLENTOWN, PA is looking for a Network Operations Technician (LAN/WAN Support) for a 6+ Months-to-Start position, providing operational support of critical infrastructure. This includes installations, break \ fix, incident tracking/ticketing, change requests, and a good amount of project work.
Responsibilities:
-> 24 X 7 On-call Support, off-hours, and weekend work as part of a rotation
-> Traveling to remote sites
-> Works directly with customers and vendors to identify, troubleshoot, resolve data networking related issues
-> Monitor LAN/WAN connectivity while assisting user base
-> Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues and hardware problems as they arise
-> Provide timely and accurate progress status on all ongoing support issues, with an emphasis on problems, issues, and concerns
-> Monitor telecommunications performance and make configuration changes to hubs, routers, switches, etc., as necessary to ensure that maximum network performance is maintained
-> Evaluate and recommend new or upgraded products to enhance the performance of the LAN/ WAN
Requirements:
-> CCSA and CCNA Certifications
-> Extensive LAN/WAN Troubleshooting and Connectivity Experience
-> Experience with Cisco and Nortel Routers and Switches
-> HP Openview Network Management System
-> VoIP Setup and Support
-> Routing Protocol knowledge, such as OSPF, BGP, RIP
-> Nortel BCN, ARN Routers and L2, L3, Passport, Baystack
-> Cisco Wireless (WLAN) equipment, as well as Routers and Switches (C6504, C6509, C3750, C2950G, etc.)
