Engineering consulting company in Chicago is seeking a Sr. Protection Relay Substation Engineer. You will need to have prior experience with an Electric Utility or EPC / Engineering firm. Experience in the U.S. is required. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Pay DOE.
Responsibilities:
-> Estimation, Project Engineering and Protection Relay Engineering for various projects
-> Coordinate engineering and design process and supervise designers
-> Perform various calculations including DC battery sizing, ground grid calculations, current transformer calculations
-> Create transmission and distribution level system protection specifications and apply microprocessor based protection relays
-> Design Protection for substation transformers, busses, feeders, develop single line and 3-lines current and potential diagrams for electrical utility high voltage circuits, design control schematic diagrams
-> Perform protection coordination studies and select protection setting for transformer differential schemes, bus protection schemes, primary and backup protection schemes
-> Design Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, design communication schemes for communication-based protection schemes
Requirements:
-> A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
-> At least 8+ years of experience working for an Electric Utility or Consulting firm designing high voltage substations
-> 8 years of experience in Protection Relay Engineering
-> Recent experience with Protection Relay design and leading a HV Substation Design team
-> Significant experience as a Project Engineer with a utility or consulting group as it relates to Protection Relay Engineering of medium/high voltage substations
-> Experience leading projects, reviewing designs of others
