Innovative technology company that designs & integrates voltage regulation systems into existing substations has an immediate need for 2 Sr. Substation Controls Engineers with 7-20+ years of relevant experience. This position is based out of Providence, RI and will require about 15% travel. Client offers excellent pay, opportunity for growth, relocation assistance and stock options.
Responsibilities:
-> Support projects that involve you and your company designing substation automation systems and integrating voltage regulation equipment into existing electric substations
-> Work with other team members (Project Manager & Engineers) on systems design, electronic controls design, system configuration, installation & commissioning the new voltage regulator systems on substation systems
-> Your first responsibility will be to conduct a site survey of the client''s distribution systems and substations and determine the equipment list needed to complete the project
-> Develop the project scope & test plant documents under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
-> Figure out how your voltage regulation equipment will be connected to & communicate with the SCADA and RTU equipment in the substation
-> Create the RTU communication configuration files, the controller configuration files & the maintenance terminal configuration files from the working documents
-> Assist with the installation and commissioning of these systems out in the field
Requirements:
-> 7-20+ years of experience as an Electrical or Controls Engineer working for a Utility, OEM or Engineering company involved in Substation Automation, Smart Grid or Substation Voltage Regulation projects
-> You need a BS or MS degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering
-> Experience with DNP3 network protocols for Substation communication is a must
-> You need a good understanding of SCADA and RTU systems used in Substations
-> The ideal candidate has PLC & HMI programming experience on SCADA and RTU equipment
-> Experience programming RTU''s using Rockwell Automation''s RSLogix is highly desirable
-> Experience with Rockwell''s RSView software is also highly desirable
