The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible to respond immediately to a pre-crisis situation within the Center and to facilitate and coordinate behavior management intervention and de-escalation of residents. The Behavior Intervention Specialist documents all activities, coordinates and facilitates communication between the team, the childs staff, and various other appropriate disciplines. The Behavior Intervention Specialist communicates with appropriate personnel both internally and externally to debrief and evaluate the intervention. Frequent communication outside of the work group is required to resolve disagreements, reach agreements, and clarify issues/processes. Responsibility exists to ensure that internal clients are satisfied with service. Courtesy and tact are required in dealing with clients. Innovativeness is required to improve work process/systems, which may result in some time and cost savings. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education ? Bachelors degree preferred. Minimum Work Experience ? At least two years of related experience with demonstrated skills in the following areas: crisis management; documentation; verbal communication; leadership; training; and mediation supervision in a residential treatment center preferred setting. Required Licenses/Certifications ? CPR ? First Aid ?CPI ?Valid Drivers License Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities ? Reasoning Ability: Job tasks are variable and require the use of several procedures or methods in combination. Interpretation of technical/detailed guidelines, policies and/or procedures is required. Problems vary, but generally solution is available through analysis or alternative/inquiry or research. Language: Reading is required to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Requires writing for routine reports/correspondence. ?Mathematics: Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and addition.
