This is a very exciting opportunity with a nice diversity of work in a small manufacturing company.

The Accountant will take responsibility for all finance and accounting matters in the rapidly growing and very well funded start-up company. (See below for more information regarding our client). There will be a diversity of work including bookkeeping, budgeting, and traditional CPA work such as preparing financial statements and providing advice with regard to budgeting, finance, and rules of accounting. This position will have a high level of visibility and autonomy reporting to the Business Manager. Expect competitive pay and traditional benefits plus paid vacation.

Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly financial reports; i.e. balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement
Prepare financial projections, cash burn rates, and cash runway
Collaborate with independent auditors during annual financial audit
Document financial transactions by entering account information
Prepare payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements
Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries, including depreciation and equity-based compensation, by compiling and analyzing account information
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Supervise outside payroll service and oversee payroll tax compliance
Assist with due diligence from potential investors
Research various tax and accounting related matters
Collaborate with outside accounting firm for federal, state and local tax return preparation
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
Maintain financial security by following internal controls

Required Skills:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or associated field
At least 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the manufacturing sector
Auditing experience: Some experience as an external auditor OR minimally the primary internal audit coordinator
A CPA is highly desirable
Proficient in US GAAP: Accounting for stock based compensation expense, Black-Scholes valuation model, Equity transactions and Business combination
Ability to interpret complex contracts and their accounting ramifications (i.e. collaboration agreements, licensing agreements, etc.)

Additional Skills (not required but a plus):

Proficiency in SEC reporting and filing.

Familiar with Auditing Standard
QuickBooks proficiency

Our client is Green Company. They are rolling out a patented process technology from a university setting and will ultimately build and operate manufacturing plants. Initially they will optimize their process to produce "green" petrochemicals that will be less expensive to produce than via current technologies. They can be sold into an existing $100 billion market for the manufacture of plastics. Their investors include world renowned companies.

Even though this company is developing a Green Technology, its important to note that they are NOT funded by government grants; they are confidentially funded by companies that have over a billion dollars in annual sales and have a vested interest in their success. (For example, this could be companies that are heavy users of plastics yet dont have a staff of senior chemical engineers and scientists to develop a novel petrochemical process.)
