FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEER
Location:
Southern California (will work from a home based office)
Summary:
Our client, a world leading manufacturer of Test and Measurement equipment geared to the specialized needs of electronics manufacturers for high-performance production testing, process monitoring, product development and researchhas an exciting opportunity for a Field Applications Engineer to provide technical support to customers and the sales & marketing teams.
Responsibilities: - Provide technical support to customers, sales and marketing for pre and post sales activities.
- Has sales smarts to understand the defined sales process, assisting others in the sales team, as well as acting independently in accounts and sales situations, when required.
- Acts as liaison with customers and internal departmentsto constantly improve the performance on our product portfolio.
- Makes technical presentations at conferences, seminars, shows and customer sites.
- Presents technical customer training courses.
- Writes technical papers for internal and external publications.
- Logs relevant customer data and product information in database.
- Provides competitive analysis and performs benchmarks services to assist sales in winning customer business.
- Visits customers independently for exploring needs (problems) while providing complete solutions.
- Technical coaching and guidance for all sales channels.
- Documents product knowledge, competitive information and competitive experiences in AppsWiki for the benefit of others in the Apps team.
Requirements: - B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
- Passionate about understanding customer needs and developing solutions and an ability to train internal and external customers in technical issues
- Results driven, consistently meeting personal commitments with a passion for quality
- Proven record of effective team work
- The ability to quickly come up to speed and work with a mix of electronic technologies
- Computer skill set must include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and an advanced programming language (eg C) along with the ability to adapt and learn new software tools preferred.
- Ability to analyze, prepare, and present data surrounding escalated technical issues
- 5 years of experience working in engineering or in a technical support role in sales required.
- Experience with test and measurement equipment required.
- Must be able to operate independently and work from a home office (prefer LA Area/S California).
- Domestic and occasional international travel required for customer visits and factory engagement
- Expected to be at customers 3-5 days per week, covering assigned territory
- Clean driving license required
