Controls Engineer

Job Location: Lansing, MI

Controls Engineer-MI Job 5803 Job Type: Full Time, regular direct position Requirements: 8+ years process control engineering experience preferred in a cGMP environment working with fermentation process quipment. BS in Electrical Engineering. BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a similar background will be considered. PMP and PE certifications are a plus, but not a requirement. Qualified candidate will provide process control engineering services for legacy systems and for capital projects focusing on capacity increase, process optimization, risk mitigation, and compliance improvements. PLCs/DCS systems include: Allen Bradley (RS Logix 500 and 5000, Panel Builder, SLC100/150, RSNetWorx, RSMACC, RSTrend, RSLinx, RSView, RSStudio, VFD tools), Siemens Step-7, Delta-V, and BACNET. Candidate must possess in-depth PLC programming skills for structured and modular standards, must have the ability to understand electrical drawings, should be capable of writing functional specifications related to software and hardware, and must be able to support commissioning and validation activities. Will also support and may lead projects from conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and validation. Is responsible for creating and adhering to project budgets and schedules, performing work in accordance with internal SOPs and good Engineering Practices, and ensuring compliance with the following regulations: GAMP, cGMP, MIOSHA, EPA, DEQ, and all other applicable State and Federal codes. Job function also includes preparation of engineering standards, approval of submittals, and authoring PMs, SOPs, Commissioning Protocols, and conducting training for new equipment installations. Must work well within teams and be effective in leading meetings with the customer, other project stakeholders, and external consultants during all phases of the project. Less than 10 travel is expected for performing Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and attending seminars. Light lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
