Position Overview:
Leading Manufacturing Company with long track record of growth, looking for a Design Engineer. Under minimal supervision, designs heat exchangers from concept through final documentation and release to manufacturing. Responsible for the mechanical scope of work for each project including cost, performance and adherence to schedule.
Must Have, Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from accredited school.
Technical competency as demonstrated by a four-year mechanical engineering or related degree from an accredited engineering school.
Demonstrates a high level of Pro E skills.
Prepares appropriate documentation related to design and engineering activities through the application of ANSI:Y14.5 drafting standards which includes geometric tolerating.
Demonstrates a high level of design and analysis skills, Interpreting and implementing all or portions of a design with minimal supervision.
Responsible for static and dynamic analysis of the structure, to ensure functionality, efficient use of materials, and cost effectiveness.
Actively works to improve and implement new methods of performing the design function.
Responsible for the mechanical scope of work for each project including cost, performance and adherence to schedule.
Selects engineering materials to be applied to each application.
Plays a strong role in support of sales and is expected to establish working technical relationships with the customer, interacting directly with customers as required.
Works with the manufacturing personnel in order to design product consistent with current processes and their associated capability.
Responsible for the estimation of the risk associated with the application of each design.
Proficiency in statistics for generation of tolerances to existing processes.
Responsible for Project Management on selected programs per company methodology.
Keeps current with new technology and new ideas in the industry to help company maintain its technological edge and, thus, it competitive edge.
Applies sound analysis methods in the evaluation of heat transfer and structural requirements.
Effectively solves design-related problems identified during the fabrication and assembly of product and provides support as appropriate to shop personnel.
Develops a good working knowledge of company Engineering procedures, policies and design standards.
May direct the activities of others who are providing support to the design projects.
Three to Five years of related experience.
Physical / Mental Requirements:
Position involves essential ability to sit and maneuver from one work area to another. Involves working indoors with some exposure to mechanical hazards, dust, dirt and irritants. Moderate noise levels.
Contains extensive levels of stress and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks smoothly with a high accountability level. Position requires high level of energy and regular, predictable attendance.
Moderate interaction with supervisor as needed, but extensive interaction with co-workers and suppliers.
Ability to work as a team member toward overall company objectives.
Nice to Have:
Lean Manufacturing experience
Experience in a heat transfer business.
Knowledge or working experience of Thermodynamics.
Automotive supplier experience a plus.
Experience with Tier I or Tier II Companies.
Education:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from accredited school.
