ROTATING EQUIPMENT ENGINEER

Job Location: Bellingham, WA

ROTATING EQUIPMENT ENGINEER Description The Rotating Equipment Engineer is a staff position within the Maintenance Departments Rotating Equipment Services Group. This position supports the safe and reliable operation of rotating equipment within an oil refinery with specific responsibility for rotating equipment within assigned process units. A significant portion of this position is performed in the field within the refinery and involves active participation within a small team of engineers. Responsibilities The Rotating Equipment Engineers responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Complies with all refinery site and corporate personal safety requirements and policies. Provides technical engineering support such as researching equipment information for maintenance and/or repair of all types of rotating equipment. Actively participates and provides technical assistance with in-shop and off-site repairs/rebuilds of refinery rotating equipment to within API and industry standards. Specifies new equipment for purchase as needed in accordance with API and Refining Engineering Practices (REP) standards. Supports the efforts of the vibration monitoring program using the DLI Expert Analysis software for rotating equipment within assigned process units Oversees the fixed vibration monitoring of critical rotating equipment within assigned process units using GE/Bently Nevada 3500 Protection and System1 Performance Monitoring systems. Interacts and assists with operations and the maintenance planning group in scheduling of equipment repairs within assigned process units using SAP Assists Maintenance Planning with warehouse stocking of rotating equipment spare parts inventory using SAP. Manages preventative maintenance task descriptions and frequencies for rotating equipment within assigned process units in accordance with industry and manufacturer standards. Participates in corporate Rotating Equipment Network efforts for knowledge sharing, developing best practices, and reviewing REP standards. Participates in or leads refinery incident investigation teams for Root Cause Analysis and Latent Cause Analysis. Basic/Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions. Five (5) years of direct experience with the operation/maintenance of rotating equipment in the chemical or petrochemical industry. Working knowledge of API and PIP Rotating Equipment Standards. Familiar with basic vibration analysis techniques and Condition Monitoring processes. Preferred Experience Five (5) or more years experience as a Rotating Equipment Engineer in the chemical or petrochemical industry. Direct experience specifying new equipment to API standards for major capital projects. Direct experience with condition monitoring programs and practices. Direct experience in vibration analysis, trouble shooting, and performance analysis of centrifugal compressors. Direct experience in trouble shooting and performance analysis of reciprocating compressors. Direct experience with new equipment installation and commissioning. Familiar with Root Cause Failure Analysis or Latent Cause Analysis techniques. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint a plus. Working knowledge of SAP. Fluidized Ctalytic Cracking, FCC, RCC, MSCC, Hydrotreating, Hydrocracking, Hydroprocessing, Alkylation, Aromatics, Crude, Vacuum, Parex, Sulfolane, Isomerization, zeolites, Modeling, Merox, Penex, Reforming, Platformer, CCR, Process Optimization, APC, Supply Chain, Distillation
