Business Development Manager

Job Location: San diego, CA

Due to business growth there is an immediate need for a Director of Business Development for the West Coast. Our Client is a highly reputable company, which additionally offers clinical development services across a broad range of therapeutic categories and innovative technologies. The Business Development position requires a person who will be responsible for generating new business by uncovering and converting opportunities West of the Mississippi River. The right candidate must be highly experienced in the business development aspects of providing outsourced clinical research services, for services ranging from one hundred thousand to several million dollars. The ideal candidate will have a strong contact list in the Clinical Trials sector from Pharma, Biotech and Medical Device sponsors. The successful Director will have excellent interpersonal skills. The key responsibilities of the Director of Business Development include Close Imaging Core Lab services business at Small to Large Pharma/Biotech, and Medical Device sponsors who Identifies business opportunities by: Generating new leads and prospects Representing Biomedical Systems at local, national and international meetings pertinent to public relations and future business development. Develops and secures business by Generating Request for Proposals from new and existing clients Writing business proposals with associated budgets Assisting management with client contract negotiations. Grows relationships with clients by Leveraging multiple relationships at clients in clinical development, outsourcing, and operations to build a consensus and recognition of service value Providing support, information and guidance Recommending new opportunities and service improvements Establishing and maintaining industry and client contacts for continuing good relations and business opportunity development Developing and maintaining client profiles in the contacts management system. Maximizes market penetration by Ensuring ongoing understanding of Biomedical Systems services, services offered by competitors and market/industry trends. Maintains Sales, Quality Service, and Departmental Standards by Utilizing well-developed knowledge of market to contribute to sales strategy Assisting in establishing and enforcing departmental standards Participating in the modification of company SOPs related to Business Development. The ideal candidate will possess a University Degree and Sales/Business Development training is preferred. Also strong working relationships with clinical trial sourcing and clinical contacts/accounts in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Device 5+ years clinical research experience and 2+ years successful pharmaceutical/ CRO/ medical sales experience comparable combination of education and experience may be considered Operations experience in clinical trials preferred Thorough knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical industry, terminology and practices Proven track record of over-achievement of multi-million dollar quotas ($3-5 M). Assertive personality, a high-energy individual, a hunter, not a farmer! Competitive, credible professional with proven ability to achieve results, establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without daily supervision. Capable of presenting one on one or to large groups (15 or more). Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to learn and then apply a combination of business, technology and scientific information to achieve personal and company results. Travel is required to achieve the goals for the assignment, dependent upon location of individual. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, GroupWise, Goldmine/ACT
