IT Infrastructure & Operations Lead

Job Location: Philadelphia, PA
The IT Infrastructure & Operations Lead is responsible for the smooth operation of all Spark IT Infrastructure and Help Desk service delivery. This includes data centers, networks, help desk, telecommunications, cyber security, web services, specialized departmental applications and related technologies and services.
This position requires a mix of strategic IT planning and tactical execution skills. This position requires a proven track record in data center and network operations, IT Security, the design and implementation of scalable IT infrastructure and a solid understanding of how to leverage contemporary IT technologies. This individual needs exceptional customer service skills.
This role will also be responsible for development of a team of skilled subject matter experts, strong vendor partnerships and the implementation of best practices to ensure that performance (availability, scalability, reliability) and security requirements.
This position reports to the Head of IT & Corporate Facilities


RESPONSIBILITIES:

40%
  • Provide broad IT infrastructure leadership and expertise to organization
  • Act as the lead technical expert for IT Infrastructure
  • Develop network and other hardware infrastructure to meet the on-going needs of the company in accordance with the IT strategic plan.
  • Ensure the proper operation of data center, network and disaster recovery systems and processes.
  • Owner of core IT Infrastructure technology Specify, Implement & Maintain
  • Data Center, Servers, Network, Telecom, Audio Visual
  • Manage infrastructure comprised of Dell, Cisco and VMware
  • Implements and maintains IT security systems based on industry best practices; ensure the security of all intellectual property, resident on the network

  • Follows IT best practices methodologies (ITIL, CoBIT, ISO27001)
  • Drive problem investigation and resolution as required
  • Establish and maintain all data center, network, and telecom controls, policies and procedures
  • Maintains and enforces service level agreements
  • Ensures appropriate availability and reliability of IT Infrastructure components
  • Work collaboratively and effectively leverage shared resources
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards

  • Manage and mentor IT team to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Manage performance: Ensure every team member knows what is expected of them, what it takes to be successful, and how they are progressing. Provide team members with continuous and on-going performance feedback. Hold everyone accountable to achieve results while demonstrating the Spark Values. Help team members understand how their work contributes to the overall success of Spark by periodically reviewing individual objectives to ensure alignment to corporate and functional objectives, making adjustments if priorities have shifted.
  • Develop team members: Help employees effectively assimilate to Spark and continually grow through challenging experiences so they can realize their full potential. Understand your employees goals, strengths and motivators. Partner with your employees to identify areas for development, conduct coaching conversations regularly and provide guidance on ways to develop through on the job experiential learning, social networks and development opportunities.

  • Manage the day to day operational relationship with key strategic vendors and outsourced service providers, associated maintenance contracts including managing service delivery Contract compliance, SLAs and cost containment

  • Manage and execute projects assigned as required
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to create and implement flexible, scalable systems combining custom and off- the- shelf hardware and software solutions.
  • Provides customers with a professional experience when requesting IT support
  • Creatively seek ways to use staff and out sourced partners to raise service levels
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Ensure operational support of all IT infrastructure and systems to align with business hours

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record of successfully establishing business relationships and working effectively with cross functional teams at all levels within the organization
  • Proven track record of implementing significant IT infrastructure projects on schedule and budget.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of IT professionals to create and maintain a professional and service oriented environment
  • Identify roles of team members and effectively communicate with all members of the team
  • Defines, motivates, and rewards performance. Gives and receives feedback constructively.
  • Collaborate with others to formulate team objectives and develop consensus for best outcome.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline at a minimum.
  • Generally has 12 or more years of IT experience with record of progressive career growth with increasing responsibilities for management and support of IT datacenter, Network and Telecom, data base administration and information technology within a global, commercial life Sciences organization
  • 8-10 years of deep technical experience and strong command of industry trends with particular emphasis on virtualization of servers, storage and networking
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an IT leadership position
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA.
  • End-to-end IT Solution implementation including identification, deployment, roll-out, training and user-support
  • Process improvement focus to include strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable, open to change, creative in problem resolution and innovative at generating solutions
  • Strong capacity to understand and analyze business requirements and develop technology and reporting solutions
  • Working knowledge of application development, technologies and methodologies
  • Working knowledge of systems administration and integration technologies and methodologies, both hardware and software, including multiple system infrastructure, operating systems and database administration
  • Experience negotiating Enterprise level agreements with Microsoft and other vendors.
  • Self-motivated and works well independently
  • Strong organizational skills and hands-on style
