Quality Launch Engineer
Plans performs and directs activities related to New Program planning (APQP) through launch/SOP. Activities are for our Customer associated with the New Program development, construction and verification of early production to identify quality standards for a designated customer. Designs and develops Q.A. systems and procedures for control and maintenance of established levels of product quality. Reviews product designs and applications to establish criteria for quality levels and controls and to ensure customer quality objectives are incorporated into the design and maintained for the duration of the program.
Work with the engineering group during product planning, design, and development phases to assure that both economic and quality reliability goals are established and achieved.
Verify customer quality and reliability goals. Ensure feasibility.
Process & analyze data for Customer build events, run at rates and PPAP
Translate quality/reliability goals into specific design inputs (work with engineering).
Participate in the development of DFMEAs and assignment of special product characteristics.
Establish test, inspection and evaluation strategies for all special product characteristics.
Ensure the incorporation of customer product performance requirements into a DVP and PVP and the associated test procedures. Participate in the development of DVP and PVP (work with engineering).
Participate in the development of Process Flow Charts and the assignment of plant/process inspection points.
Act as primary quality interface with customer OEM on new advanced programs
Develop initial control plans and containment plans for assembly processes. Participate in the development of the Control Plans (Quality Assurance System).
Establish test, inspection and evaluation strategies to be employed for the various components and system.
During prototype, pilot and program launch, reviews customer complaints, analyzes customer returns, reviews plant responses regarding cause and recommended corrective action; maintains direct contact with customers on quality matters including handling and installation; and coordinates with sales and product engineering.
Ensure the review and appropriate corrective action to all DVP and PVP non-conformers.
Utilize the tools of APQP (PPAP, FMEAs, control plans, capability studies, etc.).
Participate/Ensure timeliness of corrective and preventive actions for internal and external quality concerns.
Familiarity with OEM systems, customer specifics, and portals
Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Education
Bachelors Degree in Quality Engineering or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Minimum 5 years of diversified experience in Q.A. systems, preferably in an automotive manufacturing ASQC-CQE certification desired.
Green belt/Black belt experience desired.
Analytical problem solving, team building, and decision-making skills. environment and the launch of new programs.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as, strong organization skills.
Personal computer skills.
Understanding of manufacturing, assembly, sequencing and equipment principles
