Project & Construction Site Manager

Job brief:

We are looking for an experienced Project & Construction Site Manager to plan and supervise a multi-million dollars construction project in Duncan, B.C. from start to finish. The respective candidate will organize and oversee construction management and ensure it will be completed in a timely and efficient manner.

The ideal Construction Management Professional must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills and had worked with North Cowichan Municipality.

The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with developer, owner, operators, engineers, local government, architects, funding authorities etc. to determine the specifications of the entire project
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach mutually beneficial agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities as required
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all construction operations and prioritize schedules and execute all phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Monitor contractors work flow and schedules to ensure there will be no stop work as planned
  • Recommend hiring of GC and validate sub-contractors and other staff and supervise remotely and at site
  • Oversee onsite construction, to monitor compliance and to provide guidance when needed
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed weekly reports to management
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report all issues to owner
  • Plan to prevent delays or variance from budget with a constantly updated risk mitigation plan

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as construction management in Multi-residential housing in wood frame or Prefab systems.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and materials and project management principles
  • Familiarity with quality, health and safety standards
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and MS Project
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field with quantitative analytical skills will be an asset
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage
  • Understand all facets of construction process
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • 3 -5 years experience is preferred and able to demonstrate practical experience with a portfolio of projects worked on especially with BC Housing orientated projects
