Technical Manager

Position Summary:
The Technical Manager has overall responsibility for technical development and services.Their goal is to develop an effective technical service and application team to increase customer satisfaction, and to contribute to the business performance of the division.This role is responsible for the review and improvement of current products and the formulating and synthesizing of new polymer for the products.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Taking leadership positionR&D division to achieve goals
  • Research & development of new products/ formulations, improvement to current formulations
  • Provide support and encourage open communication with internal teams (manufacturing, sales, quality, technical service, trouble-shooting, product recommendations)
  • Working with customers for new product trials and field technical service
  • Support & evaluate cost reducing initiatives: utilize new and more efficient raw materials; use up old inventory in batches; formulate with existing raw materials when possible
  • Train subordinates to improve their skills and give them feedback to become more competent and productive employees
  • Conduct effective cost reduction scheme internally and with other related parties
  • Create & maintain written standard operating procedures for controls and equipment
  • Selecting, calibrating, installing and maintaining lab equipment
  • Consider and make suggestions on facility, equipment, and processes for future improvements
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, recommending action, and follow-through of actions
  • Control and minimize overtime and expenses
  • Annual written review of direct reports performance and goal setting; ongoing performance dialogue with personnel throughout year
  • Establish expectations, demonstrate proper behaviors, manage and train personnel to secure a clean & safe working environment; suggest & implement safety improvements
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work and lab work area
  • Follow all work site rules for safety, waste, and chemical handling
  • Provide additional support to the company in various areas relating to meeting customer requirements
  • Manage & implement the Companys policies and goals
  • Provide regular reports to General Manager
  • Other related duties as assigned by management
  • Provide leadership, development, and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry
  • Five (5)+ years solvent base adhesive experience
  • Five (5)+ years R&D lab experience
  • Ten (10)+ years management experience
  • Experience formulating and synthesizing solvent base acrylic polymer for adhesives
  • Proficient with Windows based software, including databases
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, maintaining a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate people are needed
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hazardous chemicals
  • Realization of the new opportunities (utilize existing facilities and evaluate new ideas)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills for internal and external communication
  • Strong research capabilities for new technology related to responsibilities
  • Organized and detail oriented
