Director of Pharmacy Operations

Pharmacy - Director
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, implementing, evaluating, recruiting staff, retaining staff, directing, budgeting and controlling the provision of services for the Pharmacy Department. Participates in Medication Management processes through collaborative teamwork, interaction, and sharing with administration, physicians, nurses, department managers, and other team members. Responsible for contributing to safe medication management where Pharmacy contributes to the process: including: selection, procurement, storage, ordering, transcribing, preparing, dispensing and monitoring medications. Directs hiring process and makes recommendations to management and staff for making the department successful. Sets goals, acts as the leader for P T Committee and make recommendations in a collaborative team approach to accomplish organizations goals. Views responsibilities and functions as running a business with goal of improving patients outcomes. Includes a global view of operations related to supplies, materials, staff, equipment and other support tools needed for the success of the whole team and the organization. Participation in the Quality Improvement process is also expected
When fully staffed, the department is comprised of one director of pharmacy and 4 pharmacists 6 pharmacy technicians.The department utilizes MedDirect order entry. An agreement with a sister hospital allow the medication orders to be reviewed by a pharmacist after hours. The hospital also utilizes Accudose cabinets and eMAR bar coding for medication administration
Qualifications:
Education: Pharmacy degree required. Masters Degree in Management or Business preferred. State Pharmacist Consultant License is a plus.
Experience: 5-7 years hospital Experience. Hospital Management or Director experience preferred. Additional business and or clinical experience or background preferred.
