Private Equity Undergraduate Associate (
Job Location: San francisco, CA
Experience: 2-5 years of experience
An Associate (undergraduate-level) is an integral part of the investment and operations team, expected to play an active role throughout the entire buy-out process from deal sourcing to pre-acquisition due diligence to post-acquisition operational improvement projects.
Responsibilities include:
Deal Development: maintain contacts with middle market intermediaries to generate deal flow develop opportunities by calling companies, attending trade shows and conferences and building/maintaining SI network in specific industries.
Primary Research: research proposed industries and develop a position on industry attractiveness for acquisitions. Research specific companies to find attractive acquisition niches and targets.
Due Diligence Support: perform a variety of due diligence activities related to specific target companies.
Financial Modeling: build financial models for acquisition targets or portfolio companies to justify acquisition price and/or quantify opportunity.
Transaction Work: assist on structuring transactions, identifying potential partners, lenders, etc.
Portfolio Company Projects: perform specific assignment for portfolio companies under the supervision of one of SIs Managing Directors.
Develop Presentations: communicate results of analytic efforts to SI professionals and investment partners on a regular basis, either verbally or in a PowerPoint presentation style.
The Associate role provides a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to the private equity industry as well as build solid general management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
This is an undergraduate-level position.
A strong preference will be given to candidates residing in the local market of the desired office. Please specify desired office in cover letter.
One-three years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity/venture capital, or in a highly analytic corporate function such as strategy or financial planning and analysis.
Exposure to primary and secondary research with the objective of developing market insights is critical.
Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and financial modeling techniques and proficiency with standard business software (PowerPoint, Excel).
This position will require a modest amount of travel within North America, typically to visit companies or attend trade shows.
