Position: Addiction/Mental Health Counselor

Department: Community Based Addiction

Treatment Program (CBAT)

Office: Health Services /Addiction Services

Posting Date: January 31, 2019

Hours: Full-time, M – F, 8 am - 4:30 pm (some evenings)

Starting Salary: C48: $24.40 - $33.57/hour*

*Salary commensurate with experience


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • Two years of experience in chemical dependency
  • Current valid Ohio driver’s license & access to a motor vehicle
  • Licensed Social Worker or Professional Counselor

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Performing a bio/psycho/social assessment of client’s mental and physical health, diagnosing and evaluating their substance abuse treatment needs, situation, concerns, and barriers to accessing services
  • Formulating individualized client centered treatment plans in collaboration with the client and client’s designated support system
  • Monitoring, updates and modifies treatment plan as necessary, to be consistent with client’s needs and/or conditions
  • Performing individual, group and family counseling
  • Providing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques with clients
  • Referring clients to community programs/services and conducts follow-up as necessary
  • Conducting on site drug testing and interprets urine drug screening results from lab
  • Providing case management services
  • Compiling client records; maintain documentation according to program and accreditation standards and protocol
  • Maintaining confidentiality, respect client’s privacy, routine, and independence as much as possible
  • May be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours
