Acme Fresh Market Catering is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for the position of Lead Cook/Kitchen Manager based out of the catering kitchen located within the Acme Fresh Market at 3235 Manchester Road in the Akron/Portage Lakes area. This is a full time, salaried opportunity for an experienced cook to lead the Catering Kitchen in daily menu production, food safety, and showcase skills in food preparation under the direction of the Catering Chef.

Requirements

Maintain regular communication with Executive Chef and culinary staff regarding daily operation of department. Maintain open and effective lines of communication with the Chef, Event Planner and other members of banquet staff immediately prior to and during banquet events.

Supervise kitchen staff to ensure menu items prepared are timely and meet menu specifications.

Coordinate production of menu and prepare items in advance of future catering events.

Ensure all catering orders are delivered and ready to be served 30 minutes prior to event start time.

Supervise staff to ensure an efficient use of labor.

Promote a fair and harmonious work environment.

Report to work on time in a clean, neat uniform and uphold the same standards of the catering staff.

Oversee all aspects of culinary department in absence of Executive Chef.

•Certificate in Ohio Food Protection or ability to obtain certification upon hire

•Able to work event based hours that include early mornings, evenings and weekends, capable of lifting up to 40 lbs regularly and stand for long periods of time.

•Licensed and ability to drive a company van or truck to and from an event

•Present a clean, neat appearance in our kitchen and for guests at catered events (must be clean shaven, hair neat kept).

•Effective communication skills in person and by phone, basic math skills and computer literacy and the ability to learn our food costing program and catering software

Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years culinary experience. Must have hands on experience cooking for large groups. Must be familiar with cooking techniques and times for commonly prepared catering menu items. Competence in standard cooking practices, using kitchen equipment, knife skills and sanitation knowledge.
