Director of Emergency Room Svcs

Location and Description: A hospital in northern Georgia is seeking a Director of Emergency Room Services Department. The city features the diversity for which Georgia is a highly desired location as it is an oasis of beautiful countryside and rolling hills. The hospital is located in a nice rural area that is one the most beautiful parts of the country most people have seen. However, it is approximately 40 miles from a major city. It is the perfect setting for anyone who enjoys camping, hiking, hunting, backpacking, jogging, fishing, cycling, golf and other outdoor sports. On the other, its home too many who love the cultural activities that are available in this area. This is a smaller city located with a half hour from a larger metropolitan area for those that enjoy a friendly atmosphere with a variety of cultural activities nearby. The area provides the opportunity to purchase a home and raise a family in a family oriented setting. The people in this area believe in family values and want to raise their families in this type of environment.
School System: Excellent Public School System
Facility: A modern facility is a larger acute care hospital and the Emergency Department is up to date with state-of-the-art equipment. The hospital has all the normal nursing and ancillary services and has a smaller hospital a short distance from the main campus. In a year the services will be combined to the main campus. The Director of the Emergency Services Department is a center of excellence and has 55 beds with Express Care services. The ER has approximately 100,000 visits per year. They are not a designated Trauma Center, but they provide ER services to the entire community.
Position Reports to: Vice President of Patient Care/Chief Nursing Executive
Excellent Salary: (Negotiable) All recruitment fees paid by Employer.
Qualifications: The candidate will be required to be a Registered Nurse with the ability to obtain a current license in Georgia and have at least five (5) years of clinical experience with management experience in a large Department of Emergency Room Services. An MSN is required.
Responsibilities: The Director will have a 24 hour accountability of the department and be responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the staff at two hospitals to include budgetary and fiscal management. Also, will supervise the managers and supervisors to ensure appropriate supervision of the staff. This person should be a visionary with the ability to see the big picture and delegate the minor issues to the managers.

Traits: The ideal individual will have experience as a manager in a large acute care hospital as a Director or Assistant Director in an Emergency Room. The person should be an excellent communicator and have disaster preparedness. This person should be someone that manages the strategic picture in the ER and leaves the daily routines to the supervisors. This position is considered a department director and will have the perks associated with this level.
