City Manager
Job Location: Arlington, VA
Experience: 5-7 years of experience
Position Summary:
The City Manager performs the day-to-day managerial functions associated with regional operations of the company. Responsible for pre-operational construction monitoring and support and post operational maintenance of the components. Directs company and subcontractor personnel in the operation of the company Responsible for planning and organizational decisions for regional operations activities.
Responsibilities:
-Assist the Engineering Department with network construction activities
-Monitor contractor and sub-contractors performing conduit installation, cable placement and slicing
-Assist with obtaining construction permits and coordinating with local governments
-Provide preliminary site surveys for building entrance construction requirements and equipment space availability
-Assist Real Estate personnel with building management negotiations and monitor contractors during building construction
- Provide periodic status reports to Engineering Project Management
-Responsible for the planning, management and coordination of all regional Operations activities
-Responsible for problem life cycle management (isolation, tracking, and resolution)
-Coordinate the installation and testing of network hardware
-Oversee cable locate and relocate requirements
-Responsible for the scheduling and training requirements for local Operations personnel
-Operations liaison to customers through extensive communications with customer management peers
-Responsible for management level escalation with contractor personnel
-Provides a focal point for all regional Operations activities
-Responsible for the review of DAILY, WEEKLY and MONTHLY outage and availability reports
-Creates staffing schedules for both normal and after hours coverage
-Manages operations budget to ensure maximum efficiency is obtained
-Able to juggle priorities to ensure that reasonable customer requirements are met
-Must be able to think quickly in response to outage situations and execute the necessary follow up
-In-depth understanding of construction, facilities management, and ongoing operations of all assets to ensure proper compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
-The individual must comply with departmental and corporate internal controls and all internal controls processes
-The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity
-Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
-Degree in associated discipline or equivalent experience.
-Minimum of ten (10) years experience in the operation of fiber optic networks.
-Advanced knowledge in technical disciplines as associated with operations in the inside and outside plant environment including three (3) years of supervisory and management experience.
-Must have extensive background in the Operations and Maintenance of Fiber Optic networks.
-Familiarity with the following desired underground and aerial fiber optic cable networks, Lucent LGX fiber distribution and test system, Nortel Sonet transmission equipment, transmission network alarm and surveillance systems, and AC and DC power plants.
-Additional familiarity with router, switches and IP networks is desirable.
