Manager - Benefits Analyst / Actuary

Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA

MANAGER - BENEFITS ANALYSIS

Position Summary:

Seeking a Manager for Benefits Analysis. The position involves actuarial and analytical work in accounting for all employee benefit / pension plans worldwide.

Responsibilities include:
Directing and training a staff of management analysts and having hands-on knowledge for all actuarial and accounting calculations performed by them.
Development of accounting and funding requirements for more than 20 qualified and non-qualified benefit plans covering more than $14 billion in liabilities on pensions, OPEB, jubilees, compensated absences, workers compensation, black lung and various other smaller plans.
Development of segment and subsidiary/unit breakdowns of Corporate expense under benefit plans
Development of several annual long-term studies and evaluations of the funding and cost implications of the qualified pension, VEBA OPEB, and retiree insurance plans, requiring set-up and evaluation of stochastic and deterministic valuations within the leased software.
Development of required Annual report footnotes related to benefits.
Responsible for actuarial support and cost evaluation of certain benefit proposals relating to proposed purchases of outside entities, sales of facilities, union negotiations for USWA and other represented collective bargaining agreements.
Provides consulting advice and review of all benefit or employee matters as requested.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

oBachelors degree in actuarial science, math, or accounting
oMinimum of 10 years of experience within the benefits arena with at least five of those years in performing detailed actuarial valuation work.
oStrong analytical, communication, and computer skills
oAbility to work independently
oFellow, Society of Actuaries designation is preferred.
