Electrical Engineer
Job Location: Lexington-Fayette, KY
Experience: 3-5 years of experience
Education:
Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school required. Registered Professional Engineering License in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred. Based upon Business needs, a specific discipline may be determined upon the posting of this position.
Experience:
Three (3) years of related engineering experience is required with the majority of this experience in the area of the desired Skills/Abilities, preferred.
System Protection Control- Electrical Engineer
Provide technical support in power quality and system protection areas to other divisions and the member cooperatives to supplement their staff.
Investigate all technical aspects of power quality in order to apply new ideas or new technology that would improve procedures and results.
Work with digital computer programs as needed. ( power quality studies, fault studies, coordination, loss evaluations, etc.)
Provide power quality inputs in establishing the arrangement and location of substation and facilities.
Develop detailed drawings for low voltage and control system connections.
Assist in providing protective relay settings as required for new transmission substations and modify other existing substation relay settings to maintain optimum system protection.
Prepare bidding documents, evaluate, and establish low bidders on substation equipment.
Maintain and coordinate contracts with equipment suppliers and monitor progress, expediting as required to meet schedules.
Assist in preparation of job status reports on projects for review.
Prepare cost estimates on certain projects for submittal to Accounting and Planning Departments.
Coordinate substation control system field testing and modification, phasing tests, and other electrically-related activities at the substation site.
Collaborate on the preparation of the transmission system work plan and monitor actual progress of applicable portions, taking any corrective action required.
Production-
Analyzes test data, operating data, and plant practices. Assists in designing plant improvements in accordance with prudent engineering practices.
Assists in the preparation of equipment and construction specifications.
Coordinate contractors or personnel on project-related work verifies completed work and recommends final acceptance of the project.
Monitors the project during start-up and recommends modifications necessary to support project success.
Assists in the analysis, development, and performance engineering as a function of th plant betterment. Inspects plants, reviews actual work accomplished compared to the plan.
Assists with planning, testing, collecting, and evaluating of data on plant performance. assists in the evaluation of results of testing program and recommends improvements.
Assists in the development, performance, and evaluation of testing procedures and results from testing on new and existing plant equipment.
Assist in the analysis, development, and recommendation of computer systems and programs dealing with increasing plant performance.
Works in conjunction with others providing engineering services to plan and coordinate procedures for reviewing equipment specifications and system interrelationships for all planned generating facilities.
Accumulate, analyze and prepare reports concerning industry operations, laws and regulations.
Maintains drawings and files concerning department projects.
Assists in the development and review of equipment specifications, reviews work orders and assists in the preparation of economic studies in order to achieve desired plant efficiency and reliability.
