SAP BW Developer
Job Location: Canton, OH
Experience: 3-5 years of experience
The SAP BW Developer will be responsible for the deployment of a global SAP Business Information Warehouse.
This deployment is part of an overall SAP implementation for our client.
This position involves assessing detailed business requirements for operational, analytic and executive reporting to design, develop and support business intelligence solutions.
The person will be responsible for developing functional and technical design documents based on user requirements. This individual will collaborate with others to promote consistency between the standardization, definition and usage of reporting and business intelligence information in accordance with the established governance.
Essential Duties:
Participate in the development and support of reporting solutions within the enterprise primarily using the SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) application.
Work from functional/business requirements to design and develop data sources (install standard data sources, enhance existing data sources and create custom data sources).
Work from functional/business requirements to design and develop BW objects (installation of standard objects, enhance existing objects and create custom objects) like info objects, business content, info sources, data targets, transfer rules, update rules etc.
Work from functional/business specifications to develop BW reports primarily using Business Explorer (BEx). Integration of SAP BW queries developed using BEx, Web Application Designer and Cognos may be required.
Document test plans and complete Unit Testing of developed objects and reports. Work with Quality Assurance business resources to complete System and Integration Testing.
Analyze and communicate report development issues, including problems with data integrity, data design, and functional and technical software issues. Prepare project related documentation (object designs, business rules, technical information etc) during the different stages of the project.
Provide support and maintenance of the existing BW and APO environments (development, quality assurance and production).
Key Relationships
Reporting Team Leader, business Analysts managing relationship with business users, and peers in the Reporting, Data Management and Technical groups.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science OR appropriate combination of education and experience, with an understanding of business intelligence concepts
5-8 years IT experience, a minimum of 3 years with SAP R3 modules (SD, MM, FI and APO) is required.
Three years experience with SAP BW 3.0 or higher is required. BW certification a plus.
3+ years demonstrated experience with formal data warehousing architectures, meta data management, master data management and data stewardship is required.
Proficiency in database design, data administration/modeling, acquisition, analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategies, implementation, security, and change management strongly preferred.
Experience with SAP R3 development (ABAP programs, data dictionary objects, infosets, transports etc) is a plus.
Knowledge of an ETL tool and experience with SAP XI is a plus.
Experience with SAP BW BEx Query Web Development is required.
Experience using third party reporting, and analytical tools (Cognos, Oracle Developer, Business Objects) in a decision support / business intelligence environment is strongly preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Excel Programming and VBA, web application development is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills required, as well as communication and interpersonal skills and good organizational skills.
Proven verbal and written communication skills
Must be committed to provide a high level of customer service to internal clients.
Experience in operating as part of a team organizing, planning, and executing large-scale data transformation projects was critical to success
