Design Engineer
Job Location: Los angeles, CA
Experience: 3-8 years of experience
Provides plant engineering support for routine daily operation of process units within refinery.
Support requires collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to work with operations, maintenance, and technical functions within the global refining system. Scope/troubleshoot mechanical problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long term reliability.
Develops and manages engineering work orders to improve reliability and throughput of process units.
Actively participates in the planning and execution of unit turnarounds, both planned and unplanned.
Key job responsibilities include answering technical inquiries, making technical recommendations,
providing equipment and system troubleshooting, improving designs, engineering tools, and developing designs engineering procedures.
Carries out various studies to improve plant safety, reliability and economics. Provides engineering analysis and evaluation of minor capital projects.
In some instances, responsible for design, management and execution of minor capital project.
Education: B.S. degree in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical
Skills: 3-8 years of mechanical design engineering in a refinery or process plant environment.
Knowledge of the planning/business side of refinery is desirable. Understanding of estimating tools and cost control. Must be flexible to respond to Refinery support needs as priorities change with specific business needs. Able to balance day to day support issues with longer term projects/studies.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Green Card holder

Must have refinery or petrochemical industry experience.
