Hospital:
The Laboratory is a highly automated, fast-paced laboratory, providing 24 hour service. We have a team approach driven by high employee satisfaction. The laboratory serves all inpatient units and outpatients, including oncology, open heart and general surgery and the hospitals Level 1 Trauma Center. Our lab provides testing across many specialties, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, immunohematology, microbiology, immunology, stat lab, histology and phlebotomy. Meditech is the laboratory and hospitals computer information system. The lab also utilizes the following equipment: Coulter LH750, GenS, Stago, Clinitek, Ortho ProVue, Dimension RXL, Microscan Walkaway, Bactec and more.

Job Description:
The Medical Technologist II performs routine Laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently according to the policies and procedures of Laboratory Services to ensure high quality patient care through Laboratory Services to patients of all age groups.
1.Performs quantitative, qualitative and subjective lab procedures by manual and automated methods in accordance with the instructions in the technical procedure manuals.
2.Performs complex testing as demonstrated by observation and documentation.
3.Performs lab procedures in an accurate and efficient manner, verifies results according to the department protocol as evidenced by audit. Learns and adapts to new policies as evidenced by audit.
4.Resolves routine problems independently and refers major problems to the supervisor.
5.Maintains adequate levels of supplies and reagents notifies appropriate person to reorder as required. Practices cost-containment by eliminating careless mistakes and unnecessary repeats.
6.Demonstrates teamwork, initiative flexibility in covering other shifts/areas as needed,
7.Assists in evaluating, developing and implementing new procedures, methodologies, and staff training as demonstrated by feedback.
8.Performs functional verification, preventative maintenance and trouble-shooting on all equipment to ensure reliable results, and maintains proper documentation of equipment.
9.Follows quality control procedures established within the department.
10.Processes specimens, organizes workload, and performs computer functions in accordance with departmental procedures.
Requirements:
BS degree in Medical Technologist (MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or other related science such as microbiology, biology, chemistry. Certification with ASCP, NCA or equivalent.
2 years experience in clinical hospital setting
Must be willing to work 2nd and 3rd shifts
