Director of Behavioral Services-Behavioral Medicine is a paradox in the true sense of the word. It requires the precision of medical science, the emotional sensitivity of psychology and the business savvy of corporate management. Neither aspect can be overlooked or diminished, as success in this position requires skill in all three facets. Our client, a 300-bed acute care facility located in Phoenix is seeking an experienced, energetic and forward thinking Director for their Behavioral Unit (44 beds) which serves adults with chemical dependency and dual diagnosis. Reporting to the Associate Administrator who reports to the CEO, selected candidatwill have responsibility for a staff of 75 including mental health professionals, crisis intake therapists, RNs, case managers and administrative staff. Duties include budgeting, interfacing with other department leaders, staff development and productivity management, assessment and planning for future resources, as well as communication with administration, and strong advocacy for the department. The challenge of this position is to create and sustain an environment of positive therapeutic intervention and staff support, and to create programs and initiatives, using your experience in patient care, research and education, which will provide the best medical, psychological and social outcomes for patients.
Requirements: Selected candidate will have a BSN and a Masters Degree in Nursing, Business or Healthcare. Several years of successful management and behavioral nursing background is also necessary with a strong preference for behavioral health experience a large medical facility. Knowledge of reimbursement and managed care is also required as is evidence of development of program initiatives, project management and effective management of staff. Energy, professional communication skills and dedication are also necessary for this high profile position.
