Controls Engineering Manager Harrisburg, PA, salary to $100K
Our client designs and manufactures high-speed automation machines involved in the manufacture of solar panels. They build standard machines (which still require either customization, or involve more than simply loading a program into the machine) as well as systems, which are an integration of machines. They are continually always working on new product and upgrades to current product.
We are currently searching for a hands on technical manager who will be responsible to lead, develop, and manage the day-to-day activities of the Controls Engineering group. We are focusing on individuals with a high degree of technical engineering proficiency, specifically in manufacturing automation. They will work closely with Senior Management, vendors, customers, and production to achieve company goals and timelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate as a hands-on, working manager leading 6-10 engineers who handle electrical hardware design, software development and customer service/support
- Oversee multiple projects of various scope and complexity simultaneously
- Provide technical support and direction for all products related to electrical hardware design and software development
- Prioritize and balance workload for the Control Systems Engineering Group
- Responsible for tracking projects and tasks for the group, providing reports and metrics on group status
- Develop, coach & mentor members of the engineering team and to be responsible for their annual performance appraisals
- Collaborate and conceptualize solutions
- Create product design data as required
- Verify designs through calculation / analysis
- Develop test plans and execute testing activities
- Manage external resources as needed
- International and domestic travel is required at times
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree is preferred, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- 10+ years of overall engineering experience in an assembly and/or manufacturing environment
- 5+ year engineering management experience
- Demonstrated managerial and interpersonal skills (project management, prioritization of tasks, effective delegation, etc.)
- Proven track record in root cause identification
- Industrial automation experience combined with the hands-on skills required for developing programs for industrial automation equipment
