Hospital broke ground in October 2005 on a $340 million dollar major capital expansion project that will enhance our services provided to the many diverse communities of the South Bay. Were building a new and improved state-of-the-art medical facility. Throughout the project, rest assured that the safety and well-being of our patients and their families is our first priority.Hospital overall expansion effort includes the addition of a new, two-story patient wing; four-story, 120,000-square-foot medical office building; a renovated emergency department; a new central plant; and an elevated heliport next to the trauma center/emergency department. In addition, the project will expand hospitals intensive care unit with 10 new beds, redesign operating rooms especially for minimally invasive surgery, add an endoscopy suite, cardiac catheterization labs, new MRI facilities, dedicated CT scan and radiology areas and increased patient parking.

Director of Medical/Surgical Nursing

The Director of Adult Med/Surg participates in formulating department policy, develops and/or reviews procedures essential to the achievement of objectives and the ability to make recommendations to Senior Management. Ability to use planning, research, foresight and facility goals and needs to analyze and make decisions with out delay while involving appropriate parties. Develops, directs and insures the implementation of department services that promote optimum health care delivery and customer service. Promote and continually educate employees on concept of excellent service for all customers of the hospital, to include patients, visitors, physicians and employees. Accountable for creating a system which fosters participation and collaboration in planning, implementing and evaluating standards to insure safe, efficient and therapeutically effective health care. Maintains employee satisfaction score at goal of division/corporate level.
Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, this position is responsible for planning, direction, administration, coordination and supervision of the twenty-four hour operation of patient care departments. Together, they develop policies, and procedures, patient care standards, budgets and quality improvement programs that ensure compliance with all hospital service and regulatory agency standards and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
2 years or more recent management experience in hospital acute care experience of similar department. BSN required, Masters preferred, must have current state RN license, ACLS & BLS certification required.
