Hospital is a community-based, not-for-profit hospital serving District of Columbia and the surrounding area since 1943. On June 30, 2009, the facility became a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The designated trauma center for this area, the Hospital is affiliated with many local healthcare organizations, including the National Institutes of Health. Key Statistics:
* The Hospital is an acute-care, medical-surgical hospital featuring all major services except obstetrics. Admissions total more than 14,000 annually. * Fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. * Serves as the designated regional trauma center for Montgomery County, one of nine regional trauma centers in Maryland. Fully equipped with an elevated helipad. Treats about 1,300 trauma patients each year.
* Certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medicine Systems Services. * Major services: comprehensive cancer and radiation oncology center accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer; NIH Heart Center at this Hospital providing cardiac surgery, elective and emergency angioplasty as well as inpatient, diagnostic, and rehabilitation services; orthopedics with joint replacement and physical rehabilitation; behavioral health; neurosciences including a designated Primary Stroke Center and 24/7 stroke team; and senior care programs. * Other services include NIH-MRI Center; a center for sleep disorders; a 24-hour stroke team; state-of-the-art diagnostic pathology and radiology departments; an Addiction Treatment Center offering detoxification, inpatient and outpatient programs for adolescents and adults; prevention and wellness programs; a free physician referral service; and 24-hour nurse advice line

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES: Masters Degree (MHA, MBA, or MSN).
Licensure/Certification/Registration: If appropriate, current clinical licensure.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 5-8 years experience with CV product line development and operational leadership
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Service Line Administrator is responsible for the growth and service leadership of the Cardiovascular Service line with a focus on the management of business relationships and fiscal responsibility, in collaboration with physician leadership, clinical leadership and Executive direction. The selected individual will guide the strategic direction of the Cardiovascular Service Line, develop comprehensive continuum of services to meet the clinical and support needs of cardiovascular patients, in collaboration with the Division Director/Cardiovascular Services, Senior Executive Staff and physician leadership. The successful candidate will be a seasoned leader in cardiac services with demonstrated expertise in product development, strategic planning, business and growth. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, results-oriented leader who is able to effectively pursue positive change and implement new programs and initiatives. The selected individual will understand physician inter-relationships; be comfortable interacting with several partner organizations; and be the link to physician partners in enhancing customer service, clinical care, education and research.
Strong commitment to excellence in cardiac care and to the mission and vision of the hospial and the community it serves. Marketing mindset; pro-active pursuit of new opportunities to expand program offerings while incorporating new technology. Demonstrated ability to develop clinical programs within a cardiac product line and to execute business strategy and operational excellence. Visionary; strategic thinker. Experience working with intramural and extramural funding sources. Previous program start-up experience. Strong appreciation for research as an integral fiber of the Institute; willingness to support all related activities. Track record of dynamic leadership and administrative skills. Ability to work autonomously, be held accountable, and thrive in a data-driven, outcomes-focused environment with a strong customer service orientation. Diplomatic; ability to meld diverse agendas. Passion for healthcare and the healthcare improvement potential to be generated by the Institute. Desire and ability to professionally and positively represent the Cardiovascular Institute and the Hospital in the community and to outside entities. Understanding of clinical information and computer systems. Well-developed personal computer skills are a necessity.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Requires sitting, standing and/or walking; the noise level is usually moderate; work is fast-paced and demanding. Subject to long and/or irregular hours. Subject to exposure to bloodborne pathogens, latex, dust, fumes, odors, mists, gasses, biological, mechanical, electrical, chemical and other hazardous materials. Incumbent may be exposed to moving machinery. The incumbent is expected to adhere to the Hospitals Drug and Smoke Free work environment and to adhere to OSHA mandates and precautionary measures.
