Job Summary:
The Cook is required to have a working knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils. Ability to prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
Essential Job Functions
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance. Follow oral or written directions recipes menus and instructions.Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets according to standardizedrecipes.Be responsible for avoiding food waste clean work area and meeting meal schedules. Take and record food temperatures.Operate and maintain kitchen equipment/utensils using safe and sanitary procedures.Attend in-service training programs for food service employees. Come to work in a neat clean uniform and consistently present a professional appearance.Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information.Assure compliance with infection control personal protection equipment blood borne pathogens hazardous material handling and fire safety standards.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
One to two years food preparation experience preferred. Must have excellent communication skills be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position function independently have flexibility and personal integrity. Employee must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and department heads.
