Position Summary: A member of the Laboratory team responsible for local courier service for Affiliated Medical Services. Duties include the transport of specimens reports mail supplies and any other materials dictated by customer needs. Must be able to work independently prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Interacts with laboratory staff and external customers in a positive and courteous manner. Picks up transports and delivers specimens reports mail and supplies to and from various lab clients and AMS collection stations. Establishes rapport and interacts with the client staff in a manner which builds positive business relationships. Maintains logs for adequate documentation of courier transactions. Practices and enforces safety and compliance per laboratory policies. Uses good judgment to prioritize tasks and responds to requests in the most effective manner. Assists in the scanning of specimens. Assists in the unpacking of supplies. Also assists in the filling of supply orders for clients. Maintains vehicles according to established protocols and leaves cars with at least a half tank of gas for the next day. Prepares standard vehicle maintenance schedule. Keeps a documentation record for each vehicle. Ensures availability of necessary supplies via communication and interaction with processing staff. Ensures proper utilization of time to complete daily assignments. Drives with caution care and respect for others on the road. Performs work in accordance to safety codes and any regulatory agency requirements. Helps process lab work as needed in processing during periods of low work activity in the courier section.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS Valid Class C Driver's License. May not have more that 3 moving traffic violations in the past 3 years.
